Lost and found

Claire was ready to go swimming. Every one was ready to go. But at the door, we realized that her swim ring was lost. We looked for it everywhere in the house. I might forget it at the pool the last time we went there.

Claire was annoyed and could cry in any time. Her dad got mad at me. I felt guilty. Our day was going to be ruined.

One choice: we had bought her a swim vest. But, we tried on her one time, it didn’t work. She was scared and the vest was a little big. She just got used to her swim ring and refused to put new things on. We didn’t insist, although I saw rarely kids with their swim ring and that swim vest could be a better choice.

Claire was ought to put it on today. So excited to swim, she forgot her fear. The swim vest allowed her to free her hands, which was a big discovery for her. She tried carefully and soon had confidence in herself. Watching her move at ease, we suddenly realize that the lost ring was lost at the right moment. Thanks to the lost, we made the change and Claire found more pleasure in water.

It’s a simple logic. But for many things, we didn’t get the same point. We complained of the junk food in America and felt so nostalgic for Chinese restaurants. We complained of the random of holidays here and imagined to have more funny festivals in Shanghai. W complained the boring parks here and missed the fancy games in our country. The list is long.

For many things, we just don’t know how to move on, because of the regret, the lack of confidence, the feeling of insecurity, or just the reluctance of change.
